One of our Artbot for Adults lab is a potter thinking through the possibility of combining his practice as a potter with an arduino controlled harmonograph to etch, draw, or paint on the surface of his large bowl works. He found the video above as inspiration -but is looking at pushing this idea a lot further with code. Another is thinking through his practice as a civil engineer and the possibility of bluetooth connected robots that display emergent properties as they interact.
We’ve been talking about Polygon Door as a antidisicplinary creative technology and design lab- but we never imagined how powerful it would be (intellectually speaking) to give people with such vastly different backgrounds and aims a time and place for study and making together.
